Dr. Amit Kumar Jaiswal is an Associate Professor in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Vellore, Tamilnadu.Dr. Jaiswal begun his professional career as an Assistant professor when he joined VIT in 2013 after completing his PhD at Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay in 2012. His PhD work was recognized as “Award for Excellence in PhD Thesis (2011-2013) at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and also in the form of peer reviewed publications and patents. During his PhD he worked on Development of Artificial Bone Substitutes. Currently he works in Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics, VIT Vellore with an interdisciplinary team. His research interest lies in “Materials for Health Care”. It is interdisciplinary field which involves the application of biomaterials to solve biomedical problems. He and his team fabricate biomaterials with tunable properties having different architecture and composition. The most important objective of all projects is clinical translation and improved health care status in India.

Dr. Singh has done post-doctoral researches in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Lehigh University (2009-10) and also in the Department of Earth Sciences IIT Bombay (2010-11) for about three years. Before joining VNIT, Nagpur as an Assistant Professor in June, 2012, he was assistant Professor at UPES Dehradun for about five months. Dr. Singh mainly works in friction and fracture of soft and hard materials using theoretical and experimental approaches. He has published 16 SCI papers in reputed Journals and five in non SCI Journals. He has attended many national and international conferences in India and contributed around 30 conference papers and abstracts. In July, 2015, He attended world’s prestigious Gordon conference on adhesion at Mount Holyoke College, MA, USA which was financially supported by DST-SERB, New Delhi and VNIT, Nagpur. He has chaired a session in rock mechanics conference (Indorock2016) at IIT Bombay in June-2016. Dr. Singh’s interests are also in modelling and simulations of interdisciplinary areas covering mechanics and dynamics of seismic events and rock slope failure. He has delivered invited lectures at IISc Bangalore and NIT Raipur.Dr. Singh has been adjudged one of the best reviewers from the year 2014-15 from Elsevier for reviewing papers for the reputed journal International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences (IJRMMS). He also reviews papers regularly from prestigious journals like Soft Matter, Nonlinear Dynamics etc. Dr. Singh collaborates with faculties from other Departments at VNIT, IIT Bombay and NIT Rourkela.Dr. Singh is presently collaborating on nonlinear dynamics of RSF law with Prof. M. Ciavarella,Politecnico de Bari, Bari, Italy. He has guided more than 25M.Tech students, similar number of B.Tech students for their projects and also guided four Ph.D students. Dr. Singh has also been invited for evaluating M.Tech and Ph.D theses from universities across India.

Dr. Rohit Teotia is Project Manager in the Glaxosmithkline Asia Private Limited. Dr. Rohit begun his professional career in the Chiron Behring Vaccines Pvt. Ltd (Novartis vaccine, later acquired by GSK Organization) in the Department of Manufacturing Science and Technology in 2015 after completion of PhD. The CBVPL, Ankleshwar plant is known for the manufacturing of anti-Rabies vaccine Rabipur. During his PhD he worked on Hollow Fiber Membranes for Biomedical Application. His PhD work was recognized in the form of peer reviewed publications and patents along with research work coverage in News (TV/ Newspaper). Currently he works in GSK Asia as Project Manager. He has lead the MSAT, OE and Training department in 2018 where his main work is Process Robustness study, Continuous Process Verification, Technical Trainings, Operational Excellence, Data Analysis, Project Management and Quality Management System Support.

Dr. Rachana, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology has been working at JIIT since June 2009. She was working at SPTM, NMIMS University, Mumbai, before joining JIIT Noida.

She post graduated in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee in 1998 and achieved her doctorate from IIT Bombay in 2006. She has qualified NET-LS and GATE (99.63 percentile, Topper in Kanpur zone and 4th rank in India) in Life Sciences. She has been the recipient of DBT fellowship during her masters and JRF and research fellowship, from MHRD duringher PhD. For her PhD she worked for designing a therapy for AdultRespiratoryDistress Syndrome (ARDS). She has two Indian patents, two text books, several book chapters and several international and national articles to her credit.

She has been working to establish the mechanism of action of the herbal products in the field of diabetes, ashthma, cancer and neurological disorders. Her group is alsot rying to workup on medicinal herbs for their preventive and therapeutic potential in case of tobacco smoke induced toxic conditions. The herbs which are majorly worked upon by the group are: Ginkgo biloba, Salacia oblonga, Adhatoda  vasica, Pirorhizakurroa, Rose, Amaltas, Marigold, Jasmine, Kaner etc. Her goal is to establish the mechanism of action of the “Old Great Indian Herbal medicines so that they would be globally accepted. Shehas gotgrantfrom AYUSH, NMPB, Govt of India on Scientific Documentation and digitization for selected Indian medicinal plants for antidiabetic and other activities” in 2009.

She has also been working on nanoformulations to treat various diseases. She had got two India patents with Dr Rinti Banerjee and Dr Jayesh Bellare and Dr Ram Puniyani (IIT Bombay) for” Exogenous protein-free micronutrient added pulmonary surfactant composition for NRDS and ARDS. Her lab at JIIT also has developed nano ranged microemulsions for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr Rachana is a life time member of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Biotechnology Society of India, Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Association of India and Mumbai Haematology Group. She remained the member of American College of ClinicalPharmacology (ACCP) for 4 years. She was an Advisor on the South Asian Chapter of ACCP’s Student Outreach Committee (SOC) and IPA-SF Edu fest.
