Plenary Session - Energy

The Diamond Jubilee Faculty Alumni Network (FAN) Symposium (US)

Date: Saturday, 13th October 2018

Energy is an important commodity to all nations in the world and the amount of energy and its use patterns is an indication of the development of a nation. Because of the concerns of climate change and dwindling fossil fuel resources, there are concerted efforts towards developing and deploying renewable energy sources. This is evident in the policy framework of India and may other nations. In this context, the discussion on energy will focus on the challenges of transition to renewables, energy efficiency, energy security and beyond, large-scale energy storage, and energy integration. The pivotal role of energy materials and the grand challenges and opportunities for energy entrepreneurship will be discussed. It is expected that the discussion brings out possibilities and venues for new collaborations and shape future directions in energy research.
